I believe it to date from the early 1950's - but it could be earlier , a label inside states W. William Mutrie was Britain's largest costumiers who's warehouse burnt down along with 90000 outfits in 1957. The only outfits to survive were those out on hire with theatres etc at the time - this must of been one of them. This fits in as I bought it late 70's from a Theatre sale. I believe its - MacFarlane Hunting Ancient tartan.
It's in superb condition, comprising pleated kilt with brown leather fastening together with lined green woollen jacket with buttons to pockets and cuffs. Kilt measures 28/30" waist , 25" length. Jacket - 20" max underarm to underarm , 18" shoulder to shoulder , 24.5 length.
